Maternity Session FAQ

Maternity Session FAQ

How much does the session cost?

Maternity sessions are around 1-2 hours and the session fee is $150. Finishing Product Packages start at $595. There are discounts available for maternity sessions paired with newborn sessions. Contact me at for more info

When should I book in my session?

Its best to contact me as soon as possible to secure a booking. Maternity sessions are best photographed at around week 30 to week 36 of your pregnancy, as that it when you will have a nice bump showing, and you will be at a comfortable stage in your pregnancy, so it is easy to move around 🙂 I can however do shoots earlier or later, that is totally up to you.

Where will my session be held?

This is completely your choice. If you would like some beautiful outdoor location examples, on booking, contact me and I can send you a few that I have used in the past, or if you would prefer a studio session that is an option too 🙂

What should I wear?
The key is to feel great! So whatever you feel comfortable and wonderful in, is always going to be a great choice (this goes for girls AND guys) Just be you.
Feel free to bring a couple outfit choices if you would like some help on the day.
Remember simple always works.
I strongly recommend avoiding any clothing with bold logos or branding, as it takes a lot of the attention in your images, and detracts from a wonderful moment captured. This is especially for the guys.
If you would like to show off that beautiful bump I recommend purchasing a matching bandeaux and brief set or a nice set of underwear that you don’t mind showing. It’s also a good idea to bring a nude pair of underwear if you would like some sheer fabric draped images.
If you’re still unsure of how to style your shoot, here are a few outfit ideas on my pinterest

Do you provide and props or outfits?
I have a white and taupe maternity gown available a selection of long sheer white fabrics for draping and I also have a beautifully handcrafted flower crown in my inventory. I have a selection of props used in newborn sessions, that can be incorporated in your session, if this is something you’re interested in, just let me know 🙂

What should I bring to my session?
You are always welcome to bring anything of significance that you really want captured in your images. Ie. a family heirloom, little baby items such as shoes, prints from your ultrasounds ect. This way you can personalise your session. You have the option of bringing anything else along that you feel will really add to your session, to make it ‘you’. Some examples of this may be; books you adore, a guitar as you love music, a picnic and wine, a chair, balloons, fresh flowers, Hey! even your dog is welcome at some locations! hehe! Props are certainly not required, but you’re more than welcome to incorporate it into your shoot

I also recommend if you choose a location where there is water, bring a towel along in case you are brave enough to go into the water for your photos. It is also wise to bring a spare change of clothes in case you plan to go somewhere afterwards, just as a precaution.

Where will my session be held?
Your session can be held in my little at home studio, or at a location of your choosing. It can be somewhere that means something really special to you, or you can see the locations that I have used in the past.

What time will be session be held?
All on location shoots are best scheduled for later afternoon, so we can capture you in that beautiful afternoon light! So as a rough idea most of my sessions are shot after 3pm.

Hair and Makeup:
If you would like a makeup artist or hair done for your session please contact me and I can give you my recommendations on wonderful people to help you look your most fabulous self! If you would like to do your own hair and makeup here are a couple tips:
Pay attention to your eyes. Take extra care on your mascara and really separate your lashes. Your eyes will be the most important factor in many of your images, so spend extra time making them look beautiful!
Be sure to moisturise your lips well before your photo shoot. Dry, cracked lips are really hard to touch up later in the pictures
Feel free to bring bobby pins and clips, or headbands/pieces for your session as an accessory or a backup in case your hair gets in the way 🙂

The day of your session:
If at all possible, you can lock your handbags, and wallets in the car trunk of your car. I can carry around small items for you like car keys, phones in my bag. I want your hands to be free as much as possible during your session.
Go to the restroom right before you leave. Many places that we will go will not have restrooms nearby.
Have fun! I’ll take care of making you all look fantastic so don’t worry about a thing. I’ll realise most people are not used to being in front of a camera (I totally understand hehe) so I will be there giving you plenty of direction and helping you create something special, you’re in safe hands 🙂

Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions 🙂
